Morikawa Naohiro was sent to Taiwan from Japan when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. He worked at the Forestry Bureau as an intern researcher, and was hit to death by a falling ancient tree. He somehow managed to had a good chat with Kṣitigarbha, and he decided to stay at Taiwan to do more research about cypresses (a rare kind of tree). He is still looking for cypresses in Taiwan since he does not believe that the specie has gone extinct.
